There’s a big deal being made out of the fact that there exists an Aztec calendar that seems to end in the year 2012. To some people, this signifies that the world will end at that time.
I could write here about the fact that various groups of people at various times have mistakenly prepared for the end of the world on a particular date. Then the date passes and the world keeps on going. But that’s not the point I want to make.
The point is, the Aztec calendar warning is too late. The world already came to an end. It happened just a moment ago.
Perhaps you didn’t notice. That is probably because it is such an ordinary, everyday experience.
As it says in Answers From Silence, “All that exists changes and in so doing there is the ‘death’ of its previous form. All existence dies every moment to become the next moment’s existence.”
Try it. Grab onto what was here just a moment ago. Can’t do it, can you? It’s gone. It all changed. That world ended. It has been replaced by this one. Which also just ended and also was replaced. And so on.
On the other hand, there is something that never changes, and you are connected with that. In fact, you are That.
As it says in Answers From Silence, “At each time in your life, there was a part of you that was always there and that was always the same.”
This is the dimension of changelessness that is expressed in us as being pure consciousness. The quality of pure consciousness is that it is conscious only of being conscious.
Typically, your identity projects onto the things that you are conscious OF, but it is also possible for your identity to rest in pure consciousness. That would be the experience of the true self.
In that case, a meteor could collide with Earth, but it would have no impact on your unshakeable sense of who you are.
So what is the big deal with predicting the end of the world? Why all the concern and excitement?
The fruit of that tree is fear. Some people want to make others afraid, and some people want to be afraid. As it says in Answers From Silence, “People do what they do in life, whatever that might be, in order to feel alive.”
I honestly believe that there are much better ways to feel alive than going into a panic. I encourage you to seek them out.
As it says in Answers From Silence, “Anticipation has no value.”

Excellent, as usual!
I was talking with a friend of mine this week. She mentioned a mutual friend who is a medical intuitive is predicting that California is going into the ocean, AGAIN!
I suspect it will be a metaphoric ocean of change, if anything.
John
1. The above comment makes no sense to me and it gives a bad impression of medical intuitives as well. There are some really good ones:-)
2. I got the distinct impression that you do not care for channelers. I know several who channel energies that are of the highest and the channel lives what they teach…teachings based on living love and living consciously etc. I do think that people tend to give their power away to something that is not in human form. Do you distrust such phenomena or did you in the past? What you have done by communicating with and aligning/living as your true self would preclude the need or desire to connect with a channel.
3. You have merged with your enlightened or true self on your own. What would you say to some teachers who have stated that if one were in complete alignment or merger one would not longer need to be in physical form. I, personally, feel that what you have done is the example of living in a 5th dimensional reality.
Dear Colleen:
1. I know John, and I don’t sense that he has a low regard for medical intuitives—please note that he used the word “friend” in referring to that person. In this message, he seems to be saying he has prediction fatigue from all of the predictions that haven’t come true, thereby straining credibility for all such predictions; and that perhaps we should interpret them as being metaphors for big changes in consciousness, not actual physical home world disasters.
2. As it says in Answers From Silence, “Truth is separate from its messenger.” So, I am sure it’s possible for true information to come from channelers. However, I did once meet a channeler who had stopped channeling. He told me that there was no guarantee that channeled information was reliable or that it had any sort of elevated quality. According to him, “entities” have only achieved whatever their own level of consciousness is, and it may or may not be at a higher level than any of ours. I think one of the messages of my book is to rely on your own Enlightened Self for the information you need, and to take ownership of all information that you receive. The section called “Entities” deals with this topic even more fully.
3. The statement of some teachers that you are quoting is, in my case, another example of a metaphor. My physical form as Jeffrey Chappell has not evaporated into nothingness. But I don’t sense my physical form as being my true identity, therefore in that sense I don’t need it for that. I am not being in physical form. I am just being. That is changeless and timeless. My physical form is part of the world of phenomena. That is changing and temporal.
Colleen:
3. I had a further clarification about this question. The quote is “if one were in complete alignment or merger one would not longer need to be in physical form.”
The way my experience interfaces with this has to do with the word “in”. My experience is that my consciousness is in not my body. Instead, my body is in my consciousness.
This sort of 180 degree reversal seems to be a marker of enlightenment. There is more about it in another article at this website: http://www.answersfromsilence.com/youve-got-enlightenment-all-backwards
